Dramatis Personae: Leistryg Diantos, Captain of the Charnel Guard

A polarising figure, Leistryg Diantos rose to prominence among both Orthodox and Partisan forces alike due to his controversial involvement in the Razing of Furens Majoris. A trusted lieutenant active throughout the initial years of the conflict, Diantos assumed command of the Charnel Guard’s 7th Ostire at some point during The Sorrowful Years, following an assassination attempt on then-Captain Xiel Cordaris ('hero' of the Machindeath on Null) and his subsequent internment in a Dreadnought sarcophagus.
A cold and calculating figure, Diantos was known for his pragmatic approach to the waging of war and what was regarded as a clear lack of empathy and compassion by those mortals under his command.
Records are sparse, but it is a commonly held opinion among scholars of the conflict that Diantos and Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lorne Selvaine, who had long been involved with the Charnel Guard's 7th Ostire, were the architects of what contemporary Partisan propagandists referred to as The Furens Atrocity, where an estimated 14 million lives were lost on both sides during forty-two days of fighting. Details of this event can be found elsewhere in the archives.
Following the Furens incident, the 7th Ostire withdrew deeper into Pentarchy territory, and few records survive concerning Diantos’ ultimate fate. It is believed he orchestrated further operations within the Abraxas subsector, specifically the fighting around Artex, but it is unknown whether the Captain survived long enough to see the cessation of the wider conflict.
